Surnames: Chenowith, Chenoweth
There is a "James Chenowith" whose owned 40 acres in Section 8 of Union Township, Delaware Co. IN, per the Tract Book, beginning the 24th May 1836. He gave his last place of residence as "Henry Co." He did not give a state. (As you know, variations in spelling occur on records and this MAY be the same person in my other post. Many individuals owned more than one piece of land). This land was located in Township 22 North - 10 East, Section 8.

An excellent resource for you would be the Delaware County Historical Alliance (historical society) in Muncie. I have found them to be very helpful. If your families lived in Delaware Co. IN for a period of time you should treat yourself to a subscription to their interesting periodical.

I also note from an index that there was some mention of a "James Chenoweth" in the fall issue of their 1994 "Delaware Co. Genealogist" periodical. I am sure they can find out much more for you on that and on other Chenoweth/Chenowith connections to DCI. You can contact them on the Internet or at their 120 East Washington St., Muncie, IN 47305-1734 address. They certainly know all about "their county."

To answer my own query above, I have since learned that Gaston was called New Corner and before that Snagtown,
and Wheeling is close by. They are located in Washington Twp. Please consult DCI map for relationship of Washington Twp to Union Twp.
