REMAINS OF JOHN S. PEARSON
Military Funeral Will Take Place Here Next Sunday
The parents of John S. Pearson will have the melancholy comfort of having the remains of their son, who was killed so far away, buried in the family burying ground. After great delay, the remains of John S. Pearson arrived in Aberdeen from the Philippine Islands last Sunday, and are living in the undertaking parlors of Beardsley Bros., from whence the funeral will take place next Sunday.
Services will be held at the M.E. Church. The date of the funeral was delayed to await the arrival of Rev. Chas. McDermoth, from San Francisco. The obsequies will be under direction of the ex-soldiers and sailors of the Spanish-American war, some of whom will come from Hoquiam, Montesano and other points in the county, to do honor to a brave comrade that fell in action. The fire department and several of the fraternal orders are expected to attend the funeral in a body.
John S. Pearson was born at Fowler, Benton County, Indiana, February 3rd, 1881, and came to Aberdeen with the family in 1884. He enlisted at Aberdeen in August, 1899, and was assigned to Co. M., 45th, U.S. Infantry. He was killed in action on the island of Luzon, Sep. 28th, 1900, so that his funeral will be just ten months after his death. Mr. and Mrs. Pearson have the sympathy of the community in their sorrow.
