Porter J. Harmon and Rebecca Armstrong married in 1849 in Whiteside Co. In the 1850 census they are listed adjacent to his parents. Two households away is a David Armstrong age 29, his mother Barbara age 56, and his siblings Henrietta, Samuel and Jane. I am trying to verify that Rebecca is the daughter of Barbara Pittman Armstrong and William Armstrong.

From what I can gather, Barbara and children came to Whiteside Co. with several of her Pittman siblings and their families. William had died in abt 1835 in Bedford Co, Pennsylvania. Barbara died in abt 1858 and is buried in Garden Plains Cemetery, Whiteside Co.

Is anyone familiar with the Armstrong or Pittman families? Can anyone verify Rebecca's parents? Any help is greatly appreciated.
