Surnames: McGuire and O'Rourke
Hi. My G-Grandfather was James McGuire (b. 1837 Co.
Fermanaugh, Ire.) He emigrated with his parents from
Ireland though Canada then McHenry Co.. James married
Catherine Nolan. They had a 10 children -- James died in
1912. He was a life long farmer/resident in Hartland/Alden Area.
I am also very interested in the travels of John McGuire -- from Orange Co. NY to McHenry Co. to Osborne Co. Ks in 1871. My G-Grandfather -- Daniel O'Rourke took the same path as John McGuire. Daniel emigrated in 1860 and lived in Middletown area of Orange Co. NY. He married Bridget Collins. They left Orange Co. for Plato Center area of Kane Co. After 4 or 5 years (around 1872) -- They left for Osborne Co, Ks. They farmed in that area for around 5 years before finally settling in Marengo/Union area of McHenry Co..
Wondering if Someone with Osborne Co. book could
look up Daniel Rourke (or Rorke, Roark, etc)??
Additionally if you have info on how John McGurie might have traveled to Osborne from McHenry Co. ??
Was the train operating during that time period and did it
end in Osborne?? In another words -- Why did
residents of McHenry Co. go to Osborne Co, Kansas?

Appreciate answers to any/all of my questions. I will
be happy to exchange family info on the McGuires.
Thank you for listening.
Best regards, Dan.
