Dewayne and I were classmates Lake Zurich Grade School, at Ela-Vernon and in graduate school at the University of Illinois. He
got a PhD in plant breeding and worked briefly for the famous
popcorn breeder in Indiana and then went to work in Central
America on a bananna plantation. The last that I heard about him was in a 1984 from a chemical company saleman who knew him and
had worked with him. As I recall, Dewayne was then divorced
and suffering the problem that many international agriculturalists
are prone to, excessive drinking.
