I noticed you said you showed a marriage in Shelby Co. of a Sarah Jane Black. I'm not researching in Effingham Co., but I also show a marriage of a Black in Macon Co., IL of a Joel
Black to a Mrs. Mary Ann Fisher, nee Cook in 1870. On a search, I found there was a Joel Black listed on the 1860 census living in Shelby Co. This is a collateral line for me, so I don't have much and I'm helping a direct descendant find info online as she doesn't have a computer.
So, might you have info on a Joel Black that could be the same as the one who married in Macon Co, IL?
This family moved to CA and Joel died in 1907 in Sonoma, CA.
We show from an 1880 census he was born abt. 1833 and he had a brother named Pallas Neal Black who was living with them on that census.
As I said, it is a collateral line for me, I have much info on the Cook side, but if this connects or you know any info, I can give you the address of the person researching this line.
