I groan at how often this distinction is said to come up in my family, but once again I have found a claim that someone in my tree was "the first white baby born in ___" This time, it was the first white boy born in Old Fort Dearborn. The name is John McGill, son of Ralph McGill and Eunice VAN VALIN and the year is about 1836. Does anyone have a resource which proves or disproves this statement?
