This would be Wilkes Co of 1784. In 1784 Richmond was already a county, Hancock did not exist. Columbia County was created between Wilkes and Richmond. Hancock is right next to old Wilkes County line and Taliaferro County where you thought some of his property was located. I would bet on Hancock being the better location of the two.
