Greetings: I have a Zilpha Harper in my records. Zilpa is of an older generation than your research, but there may be a connection.
Zilpha was a young girl of sixteen when she married Miles Cary (35 yrs.) in 1831. She had a son with Miles when she was ninteen (Edward H. Cary) She is listed in members directory of Williams Creek Baptist Church 1839, 1840, 1841.
On November 11, 1854 Zipha (now with the last name of Kirkland) was given a letter of dismissal from the church. She married John N. Kirkland who was nine years younger than she. John, Zilpha and Edward Cary are listed in the 1850 Census of Warren County Georgia, where Edward is 16 years of age.
November 9th 1839 a Rebecca Harper, believed to be the sister of Zilpha Cary; is charged with fornication and admits as much to James Cary. She is excommunicated, however is found to be a member of New Providence Baptist Church at a later date. The records of Raytown Baptist Church indicates that Rebecca Harper died 1892.
September 12, 1843 a Sarah Harper is baptised into Williams Creek Baptist Church. No idea of her relationship with Zilpha.
Edward Harper and Hannah Yarborough are married May 21, 1803, Warren County Ga. Zilpha may be the daughter of Edward and Hannah.
