Co K was formed from mostly men from Hall County, GA and was known as "Brown's Boys". I can't say what the racial make up of the unit was but I did have one white ancestor that was in Co K (died of disease in Knoxville) and know of another soldier in Co K that was white.
The service record on the GA Infantry Brigade website shows "Gowder, D. W. - Private, March 10 1862 - Exchanged for Andrew J. Clarke July 7 1862. No later record."
