Can't help you with the lineage, but I had to comment on the name. I knew S.C. and Carrie Bowens and probably every other one of the Bowens in Cement, OK. I was raised there in the 50's, 60's and 70's and my family was in the retail and insurance business in Cement from 1911 to 1986. My mom taught school there for 27 years.

I remember visiting or saying hello with S.C. all the time down on main street. I remember he smoked a pipe. He was a good man.

And, don't I remember Alice Bowens singing in high school with some of the Crane girls? They were doing all the Motown songs when Motown was just getting started. Good memories.
