I have no solid information about my family prior to 1800. In 1830, I find my earliest known relative, Robert Bryan living in the new town directly northeast of Seaford today (NWFH, about 4 miles from downtown Seaford, probably would have a Seaford address today, actually). I don't recall the towns name (I always get the name mixed up with Milford, which it was not...that's another town further northeast). Robert was living next to an Elizabeth Bryan, which I don't believe was his mother. Robert was born @ early 1802, late 1801, and was not the only Robert Bryan in Sussex. An earlier Robert (never actually made it onto the census) died @ 1827 according to tax records. The earliest record I have of my Robert was @ 1823 (probably just 21 yrs old) in Little Creek Hundred with the only adult in Little Creek at the time near enough to a father's age being a William Bryan. William could have been Roberts' father also according to early census records. Some of the census records contain info on where parents were from, and Roberts states that his parents were both born in Delaware, but I'm not sure if that was bad info his 3rd wife had given or not to the taker.
By 1832, Robert had moved to Maryland, according to the levy court tax records. I find him in 1840 census in Talbot County.

I find all early families of interest, but the main reason why I opened this thread was to see if there was a pattern of movement that might give me a clue as to where my family may have come from.

Little Creek Hundred....would that have been considered Maryland at one time?
