I am in northern CT for the winter, and have possible family roots in Fairfield county. I intend to visit Fairfield to see if I can locate a particular birth record, but I don't know where to begin. It's about 90 minutes so I need to know where I'm going before I get there.

Can anyone tell me where to begin searching? Directions to a genealogical society, surrogate's court, old cemeteries, etc. greatly appreciated.
