There is a small network of Gaston's searching for our relatives. Approximately 2 years ago a cousin, Mr. Neal L. Shull, JR. of Chattanooga, Tennessee spoke with a 90+ year of age lady who was a descendent of Teresa Jane Gaston Sneider. The lady had in her possession a letter that told of the death of our mutual grandfather, David Gaston, five days after his parole at the Seige of Vicksburg, Mississippi on July 20, 1863. We are desperately searching for this lady or her descendents. All we know at this point is that she was residing in California. Our David Gaston was the eldest child of James Gaston and Mary (Polly) Sheets of Monroe County, Tennessee. James born 1800 in Kentucky. David's wife was Mary Toomey (Watson) Gaston. Mary is interred here in McMinn County, Tennessee and we believe David is buried somewhere near Vicksburg, Jackson or Pearl River, Mississippi.
