I seem to find everyone I'm searching for in it. I've also found a few I wasn't expecting !

On the SSDI it shows last residence as VA is that Virginia or maybe Veterans Hospital ? Also listed as Railroad employee.

I tried every variation of Adrian Mess I could think of & still did not find in California Death Index.
Sorry this isn't really much help.
