Thanks for the reply. I'm a descendant of James Harkey's sister, Eliza Lavina Harkey Mendenhall. You and I have corresponded before I believe! I live in Ventura now too, I'm still getting to know the "lay of the land". My Great Grandfather Mendenhall wrote home to Arkansas about the death of his Uncle James Harkey. I thought I should do a little more work on this Harkey family since I'm in the area. I have been to Ivy Lawn Cemetery and seen the markers. I'm wondering about that since some of the Harkey obits state they were buried in Santa Paula...perhaps they were moved later?
