Walter was born Sept 23, 1917 to Ferdinand & Clara (Wiedemeyer) Hammelman.

His wife, Ruth Frewert, was born May 29, 1915 in Sheboygan County, WI. They married in there on Oct 16, 1937.

They had four children Letitia; Timothy, Richard and Ruth each of which remained in the midwest.

Walter later remarried to Janet Malley or Barr in Los Angeles County on Nov 23, 1966.

Walter pass on May 20, 1987 in Orange County. At one time he lived in Huntington Beach.
