Today, the funeral home files the death certificate with the State Department of Health, so the funeral home record would have essentially the same information as that found on the death certificate. I don't know if funeral home offices will typically lookup and/or copy records via phone or mail. You could learn more about their procedures with a quick call to the office. I have visited funeral home offices in Jackson County and been permitted to examine their records for genealogical purposes.
