Hi Betty,

I have looked at the Coker family that you refer to a couple of years ago, but didn't find a connection. The Martha Coker that I am looking for is actually Martha Unknown that married a Unknown Coker. Below is the census information that I have found for her, but it isn't much, since I really need to know where she came from to continue. I don't think that she was born in 1830, but just listed on the 1830 & 1840 Census in AR as head of household.

She is listed as Martha Coker, head of household, on the 1830 Clark County, Arkansas Census.

1830 Clark County AR Census
Missouri Township
Martha Coker
1 male 5-9 years
2 males 15-19 years
1 female 15-19 years
1 female 40-49 years

She is listed as Marthy Coker, head of household, on the 1840 Pike County Census.

Marthy Coker
1 male 0-5 years
1 male 20-30 years
1 female 0-5 years
1 female 20-30 years
1 female 70-80 years

Also in 1840 on line 16 is
Lydia Coker
1 male 5-10 years
2 females 0-5 years
1 female 20-30 years

Marriages I have found in Clark, and Hempstead Counties Arkansas. Clark, Hempstead and Pike Counties border each other.

Hempstead County
Coker, James J. to Mrs. Keziah Johnson 1842
Coker, Samuel J. to Sarah A Pressley 1864

Lydia Coker is found again in 1850 and 1860 census and I assume that she could be a daughter n law or related somehow to Martha Coker listed in 1830 Clark and 1840 Pike Counties.

1850 Pike Co., AR Census

I found 1834 Pike County Tax List with the following Cokers listed.
Coker, James J.
Coker, John

Any help on the Coker families in 1830 Clark, 1840, 1850 & 1860 Pike Counties Arkansas would be greatly appreciated. This has been a brick wall for many years and have just now found this Coker information that maybe my connection.

I am trying to figure out who Martha "Marthy" Unknown married. I would assume that she was married to a Unknown Coker since she is listed as head of household in 1830 and 1840.

I am trying to find my gr gr great grandmother Cynthia "Sinthy" Coker's (possibly named Cynthia Ann "Sinthy" Coker) family. Family tradition says that Cynthia was a Coker and her sister was Francis "Fanny" Coker. Cynthia married John Swanson Yarbrough, probably about 1826 in Arkansas. Swanson Yarbrough is known to have lived in Clark and Hempstead Counties Arkansas until he moved his family to Texas in 1832. Sometime in the mid 1840s Swanson Yarbrough married Francis, probably in Houston Co., TX. Francis first was known to have married a unknown Tope, and a while back we did find a Frederick Tope listed on the 1837 Tax list for Pike County, AR. Francis married second a Unknown Moore and their sone John Moore was probably born in Little Rock, Pulaski Co., AR in 1842.

Does any of this information look familiar to anyone researching a Coker family? This has been a brick wall for many many years for our John Swanson Yarbrough family descendants.
