I am trying to verify that a family living on Sugar Creek ca 1850 has roots going back to Botetourt Co., Va.

In a letter from the time, a family is referred to thus, and of "being of the old stock of Martins."

The writer was William Terry b. ca 1780 in NE Tenn whose father resided in Botetourt Co., Va. His aunt would been a Rachel Terry who married a John Martin 30 June 1796 in Botetourt Co., Va.

It is believed that the letter refers to this connecton.

1850 census lists a Mrs. Martin, a William Martin, and a Moses Martin. Anyone with information on these lines and knowledge of a link back to VA please contact me.
