You and Annette are probably correct - wasn't thinking about the year as much as I was about what "C" could stand for. There were colored schools later according to the "Northwestern Arkansas History" available on ancestry.com but 1860 probably too early. Perhaps "Cherokee" is a better choice since there were many Cherokees in Arkansas. I bookmarked the NW Arkansas reference site earlier but lost link to exact page where information about schools was found. If find it will post. Deborah
