I am interested to see if this line of Smiths ties in with mine. I am descended from a James Alfred Smith b/1760 Hanover Co, VA m/ca 1787 to Hannah Parker? James was in the 1809 Madison Co (Alabama Territory) Census. One other Smith was listed in that census; a John Smith. He appeared to be older as he had older children and slaves. I always thought he was either a father, brother or possibly uncle to my James Alfred but haven't been able to find much of anything on him (John). James had children: Patrick b/1787, James b/1789, Isaac, Brooks b/1796, David? b/ca 1805, William? b/ca 1805, female? b/bef 1809, Martha Ann? b/Mar 1810, M. Thomas b/ca 1813. They lived in Madison and Morgan Co, AL. Some went to Jackson Co (by 1830 or 1840) and some went to Coosa County by 1840. I descend from Patrick Smith who married Mary Ann Lindsey. The Lindsey clan was also listed in the 1809 census.

Any info you can give me on your John's (b/1754) parents and/or siblings would be appreciated. Please email me at poetmom@aol.com as I don't check the board often.
Thanks!
