My 1860 map of Alabama spells it Leman? The ferry was on the north side of the river appox 3 1/2 ? miles west of Whitesburg. Union Army Official Records do not list the ferry however Whitesburg is listed as 365 miles from Knoxville, Butlers Ferry at 370 miles west of Knoxville, Masseys Ferry as 373 miles west of Knoxville and Triana as 381 miles west of Knoxville. It could be that Butlers Ferry could have at one time been Lemans? Perhaps the Lemans departed Madison Co by the time of the Civil War?
