There was a William Cameron living in Lawrence Co Al. He married Lucy Zills 2 Nov 1834 in Lawrence Co. They had one daughter - Martha A. Cameron b 8 July 1836 (she married John Sanderson). According to what I have been able to find on this William Cameron/Camron,he was b ca 1777 place unk; d Dec 1847 Al - date of James C Cameron petition as Administrator of Wm Cameron deceased for heirs to settle estate; He married 3 times: m1 Elizabeth Nowland or Nowlin; m2 name unk; m3 Lucy Zills (marriage record has been misread as Bills - handwritten "Z" confusing) I have a total of 16 children fathered by William Cameron, none of which match yours! John; Sarah; Elisha; Elizabeth; Blanchy; James C; Amanda E; Francis; Harriett M; George W; Joseph N; Andrew J;Mary C; Robert N; Martha A.
The son named William J. Cameron b ca 1818 TN. He is on the 1850 & 1860(name Cammeron) Lawrence Co Al census. He married Rebecca S. Briley 22 Aug 1840; combined list of children on the 2 census are Nancy, Sarah, James, Mary, William,Robert, Matilda and Martha. I have not followed him any further. He may have left AL.

I have this info on William Cameron:

"Harbour & Witt Family Association Bulletin Vol VI No. 3 Winter 1984: William Cameron was living in TN from 1799 to the late 1820's. His first son John was b in TN. In 1829 he sold his property in TN to Rueben Whitson and moved to Lawrence Co.,AL where he is listed on the 1830 census. He probably b ca 1777 in NC and married in 1798 perhaps in NC."

The Zills family is part of my husbands ancestry. I hope this helps.
