See my reply to another of your threads about my y-DNA connection to your Smith family & additional Jackson Co, AL ties and clues: http://boards.ancestry.com/surnames.smith/20245.2/mb.ashx

I live in Huntsville, Madison Co AL, the next county over from Jackson. I went to Larkinsville once years ago in researching my Smiths. My Patrick Smith b/ ca 1788 TN was there in Jackson Co, AL in 1830. He named a son David. His father is thought to be a James.

One thing to add - I detailed the presumed path of migration of your Smiths from Chattanooga TN to Johnson Co, AR going through Jackson Co, AL (on the other thread) & it takes you right down the TN River, to Lake Guntersville. Guntersville was named after John Gunter. The Wiki article about him discusses his own Cherokee ties: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guntersville,_Alabama
