I am trying to find out if Andrew Jackson, who served as President and was the hero of the Battle of New Orleans, was a first cousin or a second cousin to Henderson Crawford, who settled in St. Mary Parish, Louisiana. I know that Andrew's parents came to the United STates from Ireland and that they settled somewhere in the wilderness of North Carolina and that Andrew Jackson was born three weeks after the death of his father, and his mother went to stay with her sister, who was a MRs. Crawford, and Mrs. Jackson, the mother of Andrew, worked as a maid in the Crawford home in exchange of lodging for she and her three sons. I think that I saw somewhere the name of the husband of Mrs. Crawford, who was the sister of Mrs. Jackson, was Henderson Crawford. I know that the Henderson Crawford who settled in the Cypremort Prarie in St. Mary Parish and owned a plantation there came from the STate of Georgia and that Henderson Crawford was married to a Miss Hayes. It is very possible that Henderson Crawford and Andrew Jackson are related as Andrew Jackson had many friends in St. Mary Parish, La. such as Alexander Porter, Duke and Ethan Summers, and Thoms Martin, all from Nashville, Tennesee and doucmented knowing the Andrew Jackson. any information is greatly appreciated, thank you very much
