In Memorial
J. H. Aman
The subject of this sketch was born in Dale County, Alabama, April 8th,
1852. He was therefore, 70 years of age. His father died in the Civil war,
leaving the deceased, who was quite small, to take care of his mother and
three sisters. With him and determination he went to work on the little
homestead and by industrious, faithful effort he made a good living for them
all. He stayed with his mother and sisters until his marriage in 1875 to
Miss Sarah Rivenbark, also of Dale county. His wife has stood by him with
unwavering devotion for the past 48 years, and was his loving, faithful
attendant during his last illness and at his bedside when the end came
peacefully on March 29, 1922.
Bro. Aman was a member of the Baptist church, uniting with that denomination
48 years ago. He was true to his church, true to his family, true to his
friends, true to his country; always ready to lend a helping hand to those
in need and share with others such as he had. The writer of this simple
memorial has been closely associated with him for 33 years, and is sure of
the fact that his good wife has lost a good husband, his children a good
father, the church a good worker, and the county, state and nation a good
citizen. May an All wise Good ever bless the bereaved wife and children.
