Who was Joseph A. Jackson and who was Mrs. Dillard? I am trying to connect Josepha A. Jackson to my Jackson line.
This article was found in Texonia Jackson Duncan's scrapbook and sent to me by Betty Jackson Duncan Crowder her granddaughter. Texonia, born about 1852 married Egbert P. Duncan, was daughter of William McBride Jackson and sister to Susan Civility Jackson that married John Ephriam Jackson, born 1842.

Confederate Veteran Passes Away

Another Confederate Veteran enters "That bourn from which no traveler returneth." The thin grey line grows fewer in numbers with the passing years.

Joseph A. Jackson was born August 19, 1845, in Perry County, Alabama. He died at his home in Alexander City, after a lingering illness, May 20th, 1924, in his eightieth year.

Mr. Jackson spent several years in Arkansas, but after the death of his first wife and of the children born of this union, he came back to Alabama and located in Alexander City. He had lived here for about twenty-five years.

November 5, 1905 he was again happily married, this time to Mrs. Dillard of Coosa County.

As a soldier in the civil war, Joseph A. Jackson did valiant service. As a citizen of Alexander City he led a quiet, honorable life. In his declining years he was blessed with the tender and thoughtful ministrations of his devoted wife and step-daughter. Mrs. Lula Kent.

He greatly appreciated every kindness shown him. With thoughts of God and the better world, he quietly fell asleep.

Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife and three step-children. Mrs. Lula Kent of this city, George and Earnest Dillard of Wadsworth, Ala. and one sister, Mrs. Annie Childress, Carrisco Springs, Texas.

Funeral services were held at the home, conducted by Dr. Arnold S. Smith of the First Baptist Church and Reverend T. H. Johnson of the First Methodist Church.

We extend sincere sympathy to his wife, daughter and other relatives.
