A researcher posted there was a Cherokee reservation located in Cherokee co al in 1866 and that the people living there were listed in the 1866 Alabama state census. Since the Cherokees were forced to go to Oklahoma in the late 1830's would there have been a Cherokee reservation there since I assume there were no Cherokees left in that area in 1866?
