He was the second sheriff of Roane County, TN. Fought in the War of 1812. On September 30, 1813 he enlisted as a private in Capt. W. D. Nelson's Company of the Tennessee Militia, and was discharged on January 1, 1814. He was a trustee of Rittnehouse Academy in 1822. His third wife was Elizabeth Abston b.1817.
