Hi Pat , I went to Eufaula and they told me to go to Clayton to do my research. I did and found so much . I think you can do the same . Be sure and ask can you look at the newspapers that are for your time line . Sure wish I could be there to help you . I stayed for a week the first time. It helps to have someone with you to help in your search . My cousin Dorothy could find books and then read all that fancy writing they did back in the 1800's . My family were the Martins , they lived in Barbour County after the war until around 1895, when I found the last deed for the sale of my great grandfathers land . He was Edward Rufus Martin. I found newspapers in the basement for 1883/1884 with articles in it for him .So take your time and have fun . We ate at the little cafe right down the street in front of the Courthouse in Clayton .
