You had given me the SSDI information that his last residence was zip code 36507, Bay Minette. I tried the Bay Minette Library - no obits and no city directories older than 1978/79, no old telephone books. I tried the newspaper there in Bay Minette and they said you can't look at the papers older than those they have out on the table(prior year) because they are too frail, try Foley Library.
Foley Library has films of Bay Minette's newspaper but they are older than the 70s. Foley Librarian said they thought Bay Minette Library would have copies of the newer obits. SO I hope some one will eventually micro film the 1900 obit for Bay Minette. Sorry
