Gerry Mosqueda died last year, and so I am not posting this to engage in a discussion with him. But for those readers who happen to come across his post, I thought I should correct some details. Lt. Col. Jose L. Holguin [USAAC/USAF] was born 2/2/1921 in Santa Ana, California, son of Lucia Oviedo Lopez and Jose Soledad Holguin. He was a bomber navigator, not a pilot. Jose L. Holguin married Celia Rebecca Martinez Alonzo, who was born 2/9/1920 in El Paso, Texas (but was reared in Garden Grove, California, when it was still an orange grove). They had six children, Curtis Roland Holguin, C. Rebecca Holguin, Claudia Roberta Holguin, Richard Holguin, C. Randolph Holguin, and Julie Holguin. Jose L. Holguin had a seventh child, Jeffrey, with another woman. Jose's mother Lucia Oviedo Lopez was born 12/12/1903 in Guadalupe, Zacatecas, and therefore Gerry made an honest mistake in his research, erroneously tieing her to his family in Chihuahua. Lucia Oviedo Lopez' parents were Regino Oviedo Gomez and Manuela Lopez Gurrola, of Guadalupe, Zacatecas Regino's parents were Narciso Oviedo and Maria Eduviges Gomez Martinez, and Manuela's parents were Bernardo Lopez Conti (Conte) and Rosa Gurrola. We believe Narciso's fatther changed his name to Francisco Oviedo successively from the surnames Ringwald and Valverde. Jose Soledad Holguin was born in April 1900 in Juarez. His father was Emeterio Holguin Ochoa, baptized 4/18/1869 in Santo Cristo de Burgos, Jimenez, Chihuahua. Emeterio's parents in turn were Emeterio Holguin Hernandez and Maria Daria Ambrosia Ochoa Gutierres, who were married 2/8/1968 in Santo Cristo de Burgos, Jimenez. The senior Emeterio's parents were Cresencio Olguin and Maria Josefa Hernandez, who in turn were married 5/18/1839 in San Bartolome, Valle de Allende, Chihuahua.
