More information is available. Departure was from Hamburg, and Ewan was recorded as Iwan Onufrejow. The journey of this family of four began on 19 May 1903 aboard the SS Armenia, stopping at New York, then traveling to Canada. Ewan filed land-grant papers in the Yorkton area on 4 July, but five months later the effort was abandoned because of rocky soil. Ewan appeared in the Hyas township in early 1904, where the family settled. John, Joyce, and the seven children are gone. The farmhouse remains; and there are numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren scattered about to remember them.
