Re: Young Family of Stanstead, Quebec
I had a sister, Shirley. She passed away from cancer in 2010. My (Russell) other siblings are Leslie, Douglas, Patricia, Kathleen, Bruce, Richard (my twin) and Garry. The Allisons are my cousins, as well and lived next to us at Ives' Hill. Both Ashley and Evelyn have passed away. They did have a farm in Hagersville. My grandparents Frederick and Gertrude Young (nee Campbell) moved to Grimsby in 1950 following the death of William, his father. William Young, my great-grandfather, and Albert's father, was also William and he married Mary Rexford.on October 12, 1841. William's father was Isaac Young who was married to Ruth Waid (Wade). Isaac was born in Vermont in about1794. I have not been able to find out for sure who Isaac's parents were. According to the 1901 census, William indicated that he was of American ancestry and that was crossed out and Irish was written in. A lot of people are trying to find Isaac's parents.

Re: Young Family of Stanstead, Quebec
The Albert Young that you mention may be a descendant of the4 Albert that I have referenced because my Albert was born in 1850. On the other hand, it may be a different Albert. I have not tried to research the line of Albert Young who was the brother of my great-grandfather William.

Re: Young Family of Stanstead, Quebec
Sorry not to have gotten back to you earlier. I was trying to figure out how you were related to the Allisons, but I can't. It must have been on Ashley's side. Evelyn Ingham Allison and my mother were first cousins - Evelyn's father, Ben Ingham, and my mother's mother, Caroline Ingham Heath were brother and sister. Mom stayed in touch with Evelyn until her death, and even after that I think Mom and Dad stayed in touch with Ashley. I haven't seen David for a number of years, but other family members in Ontario have been in contact. No one is in touch with Eleanor. Ben and his wife are quite close to the family and I saw Ben in November at my brother's funeral.
Did you and your siblings go to Waterville school? I'm not sure why I remember only Shirley. Maybe she was my age (born 1947). I did remember that there was a big family, but not any of the names. I was at Ives Hill last summer and took some pictures of the cemetery in the pouring rain, if you would like to see them.
Cheers,
Susan

Re: Young Family of Stanstead, Quebec
I am late in responding, as well. Herbert Allison's first wife, Mary Ann (Mamie) Campbell was my grandmother Gertrude Campbell's sister. She died on May 30, 1924. They had five children: Clarice, Muriel, Gerald, Ashley, and Pearl. Ashley married Evelyn Ingham. As children we visited the Allisons often. David is still in regular contact with my brother Bruce. We went to Waterville School but moved to Grimsby, Ontario in 1955. I also was at Ives Hill last summer. The Allison's lived almost across the road from the cemetery and my father's farm was across the road and bordered the cemetery. I also have pictures of some of the family stones. My grandfather was a Cairns and he is interred there. Good to hear from you.

Re: Young Family of Stanstead, Quebec
This Gordon Young is not from my family. He died in 1899. He may be a relative but I have not made a connection or tried to to make a connection. My father, Gordon Frederick Young, died in 1999. None of my Young ancestors are buried at Ives Hill although my grandparents on my mother's side are. Albert H. Cairns and Alice Bates Cairns. My father Gordon and my grandfather Frederick are buried in Grimsby, Ontario. My great grandfather and great-great grandfather are buried in Coaticook. .
