Thanks for this info.
- the John Pencil of 1802 of 3rd Township is actually John Pencil, Jr.'s father (John Pencil, Sr. of Fredericksburg, Ont.).
- the John Pencil of Shamokin we believe would be a first cousin of the John Pencil, Jr. of my query. Their fathers were Johan Jacob Pencil and John Pencil respectively.

John Pencil III (son of John, Jr. of Ontario) stated that he was born in Waterloo, Canada. He then moved to the Whitby area for work and married Martha Hubble. Orrin Pencille(his brother)also stated that he was born in Waterloo. Orrin claims that his parents John Pencil, Jr. and Fanny Jackson Pencil were born, raised and died in Waterloo.

However, I have proof that John, Jr. was born in Fredericksburg and Fanny was born in Richmond. John, Jr. was in the Lennox and Addingotn County militia as well.

I am thinking that John, Jr & Fanny moved to Waterloo in the 1830's after having their first few children in Lennox/Addington County. By 1844, they are listed as "from Ernestown" which is back in Lennox/Addington County perhaps living with a daughter who was older than John III or Orrin.

I am looking for any evidence of the Pencil/Pencille family in Waterloo. Land records? c1850's or later deaths or John, Jr. or Fanny? Sale of farm? Any proof that they were there. Thanks so much.
