WAGNER, Conrad. b. Germany abt 1830 d. Zurich, Ontario
I seek information about Conrad Wagner, father of Louisa Anna, John and William C. of Zurich Ontario. I believe he was born in Germany about 1830, and that his wife was Alvina Zapfe, possibly daughter of Christian Zapfe. Louisa Anna Wagner married Frank Bossenberger/Bossenberry of Zurich Ontario.
I would welcome information on Conrad Wagner, his parents, siblings, birthdate and place of birth, as well as immigration data.
Thank you for your attention.
Sincerely, Roy Keys

Re: WAGNER, Conrad. b. Germany abt 1830 d. Zurich, Ontario
Roy, The only thing I found other than what is in the cemetery transcripts on Conrad Wagner is a Mrs. Elizabeth Wagner nee Weil, in South Easthope Twp wife of Conrad R. Wagner, married in Zurich. She died October 20 between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. of a bowel infection/cancer or childbed fever - age 17 years, 7 months, 3 days. I found this in a booklet of the old cemetery from the St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zurich, Ontario 1860-1886. Joanna

Re: WAGNER, Conrad. b. Germany abt 1830 d. Zurich, Ontario
Hello Joanna,
Thank you for your note. However, I believe that the individuals you located are not my ancestors. My ancestors dates are as follows:
Conrad Wagner (born 1828, Brutenbach Kur, Hessen, Germany) married to Alvina Zapfe, born 1837, Lausendz, Saxony, Germany) their daughter, Louisa Anna Barbara, was born in 1868 at Wagner's Corners, near Zurich, Ontario. Parents of Conrad Wagner are probably John (Johan) Wagner and Margaret Ort. Parents of Alvina Zapfe are Frederick Zapfe and Magdalena Kemmer.
Thank you for your assistance.
Sincerely, Roy Keys

Re: WAGNER, Conrad. b. Germany abt 1830 d. Zurich, Ontario
Hello Roy, I looked at your message again and think it's not impossible that 17 year old Elizabeth Weil Wagner, dying of childbed fever as the record states, could have been married to Conrad F. Wagner, and then he married again. I looked at more of my 'stuff' (I am doing a lot of research myself in Zurich and Dashwood) and found a reference to Ottilie Elise Wagner, daughter of Bernard Wagner & Albina Zapfe. Ottilie died July 6, 1884 - she was 11 years old and is in the records of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zurich. What is also interesting is that I have a funeral card that my great aunt kept for Mary Margaret Bossenberry, beloved wife of A S Bossenberry, in her 44th year in London on Wednesday, December 14, 1938. The funeral was held inn Parkhill. My great grandparents moved from Zurich to Parkhill about 1904. That is the only instance that Bossenberry has come up so I don't think it's relevant to my genealogy. I also have a Weil connection quite far back. There could be some information we need from each other. Joanna Morrow

Re: WAGNER, Conrad. b. Germany abt 1830 d. Zurich, Ontario
Thanks for this information, although must say that it does confuse things. The 1871 census index does not throw any light on Bernard Wagner, or on Albina. Moreover, the OCFA database shows no sign of an Elizabeth Wagner in Hay county cemeteries. I do find Ottile Wagner buried in Mount Hope Section A in Kitchener, however, and Bernard is buried in Woodland, Kitchner. There is no sign of a Mary Margaret Bossenberry in the cemeteries. The only close name is Margaret (Rea). If there was an A.S. Bossenberry, it could have been one of William's children: either Alexander or Allan. Allan did marry a Margaret Bock, but she died in about 1889. In any case, Allan moved to Calgary.
Any ideas?

Re: WAGNER, Conrad. b. Germany abt 1830 d. Zurich, Ontario
Hello Roy, Sorry for the confusion - I hate when that happens! Anyway the only idea I have is to send you a copy of the pages I have. They are from a book put out by St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Chruch in Zurich of old church records with the church information recorded for the deaths of Ottilie Elise Wagner and Mrs. Elisabeth (Weil) Wagner. A man I bought some books from sent it to me knowing it had information I would want. I wonder if any of the entries are recorded in OCFA. I have a scanner but don't know how to use it yet so unless my husband knows how to send it over the internet I can just mail the pages to you. Joanna

Re: WAGNER, Conrad. b. Germany abt 1830 d. Zurich, Ontario
Hello Roy, Well I just found something that was interesting, at least I thought so. I was looking at my 1881 Census discs from the Family History Library and found that Thomas Keys in Stanley Township was almost a next door neighbour to my great, great grandparents, John & Katrine Schafer. Is Thomas one of your relatives? Joanna

Re: WAGNER, Conrad. b. Germany abt 1830 d. Zurich, Ontario
Mary Margaret Ranche (spelling?) was the wife of Alfred Sidney Bossenberry, the son of Henry Bossenberry and Mary Caroline Rau. Henry was the son of William Bossenberry/Bossenberger and Lydian Gabel/Gable. I was told that Mary Margaret was a full blooded Cree. If you receive this and still have the funeral card, I would love to have a scanned copy, if possible, for my records. I do have a different e-mail address now-- kodoma@iglou.com
