Jacob Cronkright son of Abraham Cronk
Looking for descendants of or researchers who have information of the Cronk clan who were born/raised in Hastings County. Started with Jacob Cronkright (b. 1796 in Fredericksburg Twp, L&A County), son of Abraham Cronk and Mary Kail. Married Elizabeth McGrath in 1819, received land in Tyendinaga for fighting in War of 1812. Had children: Nelson Reginald (b. June 19, 1836, Tyendinaga), James(b. 1837?), William (b. 1823?), Nicholas (b. 1830?), John (b. 1824?), Morgan (b. 1839?), Mary D. (b. 1837?), Catherine (b. 1841?), Charlene (b. 1835?). Nelson and wife Ellen Louisa had two children: Robert Wilson (b. 29 Feb 1868 (b. Hungerford Twp, East Hastings) and Ernest (b.12 Oct 1873 Hungerford Twp). William and wife Mary had a son Jacob (b. 1860). James and Isabella had children James, Nancy, Adella, and Margaret during the 1860s. Nicholas and Elizabeth (b. 1835) had many children: Hector, Robert, Allen, Victoria, Clara, Abraham, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah, Almira (all born from mid-1850s to mid-1870s). John and Ann had Margret, George, Jacob, William, Wellington, Eliza from the late 1850s to the late 1860s (supposedly John and some other family members died of a suspicious fire in the early 1880s). All these families were in Hastings/Hungerford Twp for a couple Censuses during the mid-1800s. Most of these families disappeared from Hastings and pretty well Eastern Ontario after the 1881 Census (some after the 1871 Census) so I'm trying to figure out where they all went!! Please email me with any info!!

David Wellington Cronk - Ontario > Manitoba
I have just recently started up my family tree. I have a Great Grandfather Joseph David Wellington Cronk who was born in Madoc, Ontario (app 1860-70). His fathers name was Samuel and his mothers name was Elisa Metts. Either Joseph or Samuel moved to Southern Manitoba between 1870 and 1909. Any insight into this, or ancestors from this line would be greatly appreciated.

Samuel Cronk and Elisa Metts
Hi Rhonda! Unfortunately many people in that day and age weren't particularly innovative about picking kid's names. While I have lots of stuff about Cronks in Hastings, I'm never sure about connections. I have seen records of David Cronks, Wellington Cronks, Samuel Cronks, but I don't believe that I have records of a Joseph/David or Wellington Cronk whose father is Samuel and mother is Elisa. One of my ancestors was Samuel Cronk but he married Sarah Mugridge in 1862 in Percy Twp, Northumberland County. Another ancestor was Samuel Cronkhite, but he was in his 70s during the 1860s and he was married to Catherine, also in her 70s. However, I have seen references to Samuel Cronk in Amherst Island, Lennox and Addington County. Maybe that is something you could investigate?

Andrew Cronkwright, b.1875
I have family history of many Cronkwrights living in many parts of southern Ontario and Quebec. These were given to me by Richard Ashmun of Mt.Pleasant, PA, who received them from Marilyn B. Jackson of Ontario.
Although I'm still trying to locate my personal connection to these records (if any)....my great-grandfather was Andrew Cronkwright, b.1875 d.1947....these records contain descendants of Jacobus Kronkheit of NY.
If you are still interested please contact me by email or post a new message to this note.

My family is from upstate N.Y. and have relatives buried in Odelltown Quebec. My oldest tracable relative dates back toJames Cronkwrite b.2/12/1771,d.8/25/1847. I believe that Mr. Ashmun and I (we) are related. William Ashmun and Katherine Cronkrite had a son named William born in Champlain,N.Y. in 1807. Young Mr. Ashmun married Jane Maria Griggs. I believe that Katherine and James were siblings. Katherine was born July 24,1774 and died June 6,1829 in Hamilton Ontario. Please contact me with any information.

Wellington Edwin Cronk - Ontario > Manitoba
My name is Melanie Cronk. I also have just started my family tree. My father's family originally came to ontario (possibly Prince Edward County region) from the States as loyalists. Then, they went to Manitoba. My great grandfather's name was Wellington Edwin Cronk and my grandfather's name was Samuel Cronk. The names seem too similar to yours to be just a coincidence. My father's memory is not great right now, but he is attempting to find some information that his mother had recorded about his father's family. If I learn any more I'll let you know.

Cronk, Cronkright and McGraw, McGrath connection
Hi Jason
Was your Elizabeth McGrath/McGraw who married Cronkright/Cronk from the Fredericksburg Area in the Bay of Quinte? Was she the daughter of William and Katreen Woodcock McGraw/McGrath?
If so will exchange family information that I have on Elizabeth.
