Thank you! Unfortunatly, John S did not have a child John E. That family is not known to me as a relation. I do know his children because I have what appears to be a transcript from some family documentation. Names births and deaths. What I was trying to find out is how to translate lot and concession to line and family #. It would make more sense to me if He lived on line 6, 12 than line 12, #6. I think he actually had 500 acres which was partly granted and partly purchased. He claimed his father was granted a 100 acre lot and then he repetitioned and got another 100 acres. He supposedly owned down to the lake and sold his improved land to Meaford for a huge profit. The land he did purchase he got for 5 cents/acre probably in pounds not dollars. I have a news clipping of his early life. He settled before he was 20 and was 96 during the interview. I take his statement with a grain of salt. He was probably senile, plus he was recalling what happened 70 years before. The clipping started out stating he was the last early settler still living. It is possible he took some liberties. He claimed to have worked non-stop from first light to last light in the summer every day.
