Hi Kathleen :
I checked the 1851 census transcription for S. Crosby on this site & it shows William, s/o John & Elizabeth, was just 4 at that time so I was obviously wrong about him probably being the brother of Maria. There were two other William Johnsons that would also be too young - 2 yr old, s/o Robert & Matilda Johnson & 3 yr old, s/o Thomas & Mary Johnson. In checking the 1851 N. Crosby transcription, found William Johnston, carpenter, b. Ire., age 19, single, working on the farm of William Taylor, but a resident of S. Crosby. Don't have any info on his parents but see that he was deceased by the 1881 LDS census for S. Crosby. It has Kezia JOHNSTON, widowed, b. Ont., seamstress, age 43 & C. Methodist, residing in the Elgin area, near her HALLADAY family.
Will send you the JOHNSTON info from the book by email. Do you also wish the HALLADAY Cemetery info for this family ?
Cheers
Libby
