This is becoming most interesting! After Mary Elizabeth (Johnston) Delve's death in St. Boniface her husband Joseph Delve moved out to Vancouver to live with one of his daughters who had previously moved there from Manitoba. Another one of his daughters, my grandmother Mabel (Delve) Lloyd also moved from Manitoba to Vancouver and one of my uncles recalls an "Auntie" Emma Johnston coming to visit them. As he was very young at the time it is quite possible that he recalls Ella as Emma.

I looked at the BC Archives online and found a Ella Marguerite Johnston who died in Saanich on June 21, 1971 (age 94)which appears to match with James Archibald Johnston's death in Victoria on March 20,1953.

I am going away for the weekend but I would love to exchange further information with you on the descendants of Eliza Bertrim next week. There seems to have been a most interesting mass migration from Ontario to Manitoba to British Columbia.
