Seeking info on Alexander McDonell Corporal Queen's Ranger . I had thought him settled in Stormont near St Andrews West , but in "Sons & Daughters of American Loyalists" he is listed as Charlottenburg . There are great numbers of Alexander McDonell UE settled in Charlottenburg but I believe this is the only one to have served in the Queen's Rangers . In this same book is listed my Allen (Bhuide) McDonell Charlottenburg [Lot 23 Con 9], his daughter Nancy McDonell married to Alexander McDonell with Order in Council [Land Petition as daughter of said UE Allen McDonell KRRNY] dated 16 April 1799 . In S/D of American Loyalists their children Jennet OC dated 6 Aug 1816 and John OC dated 23 Nov 1816 as D/S of Alexander McDonell UE Corporal Queen's Ranger . His father may have been named John McDonell who served in the 84th.
This Alexander McDonell Queen's Ranger made his own Petition to the Executive Council dated 11 July 1796 in which he states his wife is daughter of a UEL and his father then decease had served 84th Rev War , unfortunately he included none of their names .
This Petition dated 11 July 1796 says he came to this Province 10 years before and has lived here since . Again unfortunately he does not share where he settled , just asks for more land . The Queen's Rangers had been disbanded and issued land on St John River NB in late 1783 , and he may not have arrived in Upper Canada in time to draw land and be inserted on McNiff's Map 1786. He may instead have received a Land Board Certificate issued by the Cornwall Board as did his fellow Queen's Ranger named Robert Young who were brothers in law as his wife Flora McDonell was also a daughter of Allen Bhuide McDonell UE Lot 23 Con 9 Charlottenburg where he had settled with his son Alexander Bane McDonell UE .
