Hi Elizabeth . Yes I know your cousin and where his farm is located . He is the custodian of my St Andrews United Church Williamstwn [formerly Kirk of Scotland Presbyterrian] . He is an excellant man and proud Protestant . My Young , Grant , and other ancestors are buried there and that is where I shall wait out eternity .
My first Canadian Young ancestor was Robert Young of the Queen's Rangers who married Flora McDonell [Ardnabie branch] in 1782 on Long Island NY and later resettled to Charlottenburg Glengarry where her father Allen McDonell KRRNY and other Loyalist ancestors had settled .
My Mother was a Grant and our first Canadian Grant ancestor was John Duldreggan Grant of Lots 25 & 26 Street Road Charlottenburg , who set out from Scotland [with 8 of his 9 children] in 1785 and arrived here in 1786 . His eldest son Alexander Alex Grant married Ann Nancy McDonell who was the only child of Donald McDonell KRRNY killed Fort Stanwix NY 1777 . Ann Nancy McDonell Grant received land grant as daughter of said UE Donald McDonell KRRNY and her Petition of 1818 has a sworn letter signed by this Alexander Cameron and Hugh McDonell attesting to fact that said Donald McDonell KRRNY was killed Fort Stanwix NY 1777 .
I have spoken via email with Gavin Watt and he is more of an historian then genealogist . I am an amateur genealogist who studies mostly the settlement of my varied Loyalist ancestors who settled in SD&G . I have over thirty direct ancestors , their brothers and brothers in law who served KRRNY . I located your Cameron and McDonell ancestors on Lot 51 NS Raisin River Williamstown , and confirmed same with your cousin .
My hope is to try and figure out if your Hugh was directly related to my Donald McDonell KRRNY . Both your Alexander Cameron and Hugh McDonell are on the KRRNY Muster Roll to be found in Gavin Watt book . I hope you will collaborate .
