The John McLeland you found on Lot 23 [which today is known as Street Road Charlottenburg] is also found on the Pearl 1773 list , the Kingsborough Patent list with the McDonell group rent due date 25 Sept 1780 , on KRRNY muster roll as Private with wife Grisell , and on McNiff's Map 1786 on said Lot 23 shared with Wm Cameron . The McLeland name soon morphed into McLennan and the land passed down from son to son until Ken's family sold it in the 1940s. For those tracing the bread crumbs backwards , this John McLeland / McLennan KRRNY UE children , Henrietta Henny McLennan m. Duncan Grant UE , Margaret McLennan m.
