I think the UEL folks are relying on the following information I dug up from others' work. I still have some questions about years and ages you can see from my first post, but this should help you.

*Ian Grant, sheriff and knight of Inverness in 1434, m Matilda heiress of Glencarnie/Glencharnie, daughter of Gilbert, Lord of Glencharnie, and they had:

*Sir Duncan Grant, First of Freuchie, Chief, inherited Matilda's lands, d 1485, wife not known, and their children included: Catherine who m1 a McIntosh and .... of Sheuglie, Muriel who m a Leslie/Loshi/Leshi and died 1472, and John Grant, The Gentle;

*John Grant, The Gentle, 4th Laird, was old and failing and died in 1584, was in the palace of Holyrood House (Edinburgh) when Rizzio was murdered and helped to rescue Queen Mary, and his children included: William, Patrick and John "The Bard" Grant/aka The Red Bard/aka John of Freuchie.

*John Grant, The Bard, married Margaret Ogilvie and lived in Castle Grant in the Spey;
Covenanters, and their children included: James-of-the-Raids & Freuchie (Hamish na Creagach = of the raids) who owned 2 castles, had 1/2 Glen Urquhart and the Spey (Castle Grant in the Spey); John 'Young John' Grant of Corriemony; Margaret who m Cummings; Ann who m Hugh Fraser of Lovat; Agnes who m Cameron; Elizabeth who m McKenzie of Kintail; Christie/Christine; daughter who m Gordon of Aboyne; John (Big John/Ian Mor), a natural son, 1509-1548) First of Glenmoriston. (The three sons, James, John and John Mor, were said to be of giant size, athletes, wrestlers, statesmen, Presbyterian/Covenanter churchmen, and of poor morals!).

*John "Big John"/Ian Mor Grant, Laird of Culcabock, Barony of Glenmoriston, m1st Isabella Innes and m2 Agnes Fraser. Their children included: Alexander (natural son), James (natural son) of Wester Elchies?, John Roy of Carron (natural son), Isabella who m a Grant of Ballandollock, maybe John who inherited Castle Freuchie/Castle Grant, and Patrick "Mac Ian Mohr" Second of Glenmoriston, d 1580, m Beatrice Campbell of Cawder.

*Patrick Grant, Second of Glenmoriston and Beatrice Campbell Grant had children: Lillas who m Alexander Grant, First of Shewglie, Archibald Grant and John Grant "Ian of the Battle" who m Ellizabeth Grant.

*John Grant of-the Battle and wife Elizabeth owned hundreds of square miles of land and lived in London for a few years. Their children included: Duncan Grant First of Duldraggan/Duldreggan who m Catherine McDonald (Duldreggan branch); John Grant "The Tailor/The Tutor) who had a son Duncan Roy; and Patrick Grant of Culbockie who m Margaret Fraser of Culbockie and he d ca 1643.

*Patrick and Margaret Fraser Grant of Culbockie had children: Janet, Mary and John who died 1703.

*John Grant m a Fraser of Struie and he d 1703. His children included: Duncan of Innerwick, daughter, daughter who m Duncan Cameron, Alex of Blairy of Balmacaan, a daughter m Donald McRae, and John Grant who m Janet Bailie and Janet Cameron.

*John Grant who died 1736 m1 Janet Bailie of Dunean and m2 Janet Cameron, daughter of Sir Ewan Cameron, and had 10 sons and 5 daughters (ref here to Scots Magazine which I have not seen). The children of John Grant who died 1736 include: Isobel who m a Shewglie (Duldreggan Branch), daughter who m a Chisholm of ?Kindsfor, James, Ewen of 42nd Black Watch Regiment, Duncan who m .... daughter of Corriemony and he died in India, Alan (said to be a refugee, lived at Strathspey and also at Aird? where he died), Alex of Port Clair & a major in Glengarry Regiment, Patrick who d 1786 and m a dau of John Grant of Craskie, and John "Big John the Warrior" Grant b Glenmoriston.

*John "Big John the Warrior" Grant, Duldreggan Branch, married Mary McIntyre in NY, to NY ca 1773 to Sir William Johnson's Mohawk Valley colony, tried for treason, shipped to Barbados, pardoned along with son Angus and returned to Scotland. John and Mary Grant's children included: Allan who was accidentally killed War of 1812 by an overhanging branch while riding at night; maybe Mary; Alexander - a ship's captain who drowned 1794; and Angus "Laird" Grant, Laird of Martintown, b Glenmoriston, m Nelly McDonell of Leek, dau of Captain Archibald McDonell of Leek.

*Angus Grant, Laird of Martintown, "Ballaquaidaidh" sp? is Larry Kaseberg's great-great-great-great grandfather, m Nelly McDonell of Leek, farmer, 1st Battalion Royal Regiment of New York Rifles under Sir John Johnson, American Revolution, UEL, Glengarry Militia 1812, went from NY to New Johnstown (Cornwall, Ontario), Crown Grant Lot 24 So Side River aux Raisin, 1st Concession. Angus and Nelly's children included: John b between 1773-1790 NY; Angus Jr. UE, prob b Charlottenburgh, Glengarry ca 1781 and d young; Christie/Christian who m Peter "Farmer" Grant (Mildred Grant's family); Capt/Sgt Alexander b between 1772-1786 Inverness who bought a farm from Duncan Grant, lived on the King's Road, was captain of Charlottenburgh Highlanders War of 1837-38, Ensign of Glengarry Fencibles 1812-14, m Flora McPherson --and Rhodes Grant of Martintown once had his sword; Belle/Isabelle b ca 1786 d 1885 m James Fraser 1820; Duncan of Apple Hill b 1777 Kingsborough Patent NY d Kenyon, Glenga!
