Classification: Query
Surnames: JOHNSON, CHURCH, ESTELLE, CARNEY
My husbands family has a Philip Church born about 1812 in NY died 4 Feb 1881 Burford Twp, Brant Co, Ontario married about 1818 to Mary Johnson born in Canada died 4 Jul 1887 Brant, Ontario. (Marriage Records at the Mohawk Chapel 1827-1877, publication #189, Ontario Genealogical Society, Brant County Branch, Brantford).

Philip Church's OBITUARY: 11 Feb 1881 The Daily Sentinel Review, Woodstock, Oxford Co, Ontario, Canada 11 Feb 1881 (Funeral took place Feb 5, 1881) Burford lost one of its oldest inhabitant last week of Mr. Philip Church, father of Alanson Church. The well known and intensive lumberman of Blandford. He settled in the township over fifty years ago, being one of the earliest settlers. He had a large family, eleven children, nine of whom along with his aged partner in life survived him. The funeral took place Saturday last to the Christian Church, Governors Road, east of Princeton and was largely attended. They are buried in Christian Cem, Oxford Co, Ontario

Philip and Mary's daughter Pamelia Church born about 1831 NY married 3 Jul 1851 to Lewis H. Estelle in the Christian Church, Oxford Co, Ontario, Canada SOURCE: Ontario Archives, 77 Greenville St. Toronto Cat. #RG8 1-6-A Vol 3 Marriage Regist Brock - Dist 1839-1858 (Brock Dist Now Oxford Co) Regional Archives - Weldon Library, Univ of Western Ont, London Ontario Canada 3 July 1851 Lewis H. ESTELL and Pamelia CHURCH of Burford, authority-license Witness: Henry Johnson & Seth Church. George Sherman, Minister of the Christian Church

Does anyone know anything of this Johnson family. They are in the 1851 Census Burford Twp, Brant Co, Ontario, Canada - ED1 pg 191. Later Pamelia and her brother John Church who worked on the railroad moved to Charlotte, Eaton Co, Michigan. John was married Malvina Carney 5 Oct 1870 in Burford Twp, Brant Co, Ontario.

I find it strange the way they mentioned Philip's wife as his aged partner!

CENSUS: 1851 Burford Twp, Brant Co, Ontario, Canada - ED1 pg 191 That part of Twp lying North of Plank Rd. Philip is listed as Inn Keeper with Wife Mary and Ransular, Charles, Mary, Lanson, Norman, John, William Henry, George, Ann Milroy, Mary Bank? Also Agricultural Census

It would be so helpful if anyone knows anything about this Johnson family, they also might be of the Indian Johnson family in the area.
