HI Donna, for some reason I received an email that you had posted a reply to me about my Muise connection. I'm confused as am looking for Muse and my name is not Sandy. It's Barbara. I did post a message or perhaps a reply earlier this week, The thing is, I know Muse is also spelled Muise, Meuse, Muis and who knows how many more? It's Maryellen Muse I'm looking for but she listed her name as Nellie Parker on her marriage license here in Massachusetts in 1904. I'd still like to discuss the lineage of the name if you care to. Thanks, Barbara

Hi Barbara,

Helen/Nellie, as we were told is my great grandmother! My grandmother married her son Bud? (I don't know is actual name, just Bud). My grandmother did tell me that grandfather was from two tribes but couldn't tell me which. I do know that when they got married there were some issues because it was considered an inter racial marriage, they were threatened badly and moved to South Boston. I also know that Nellie died alone and was buried in a paupers grave somewhere in MA. Her son passed away before she did.

Did Nellie have a sister names Margaret Ada Muise? Margaret is my second great grandmother. I am wondering if the tribe you speak of is Eastern Woodland Métis?

Sandy, ( or anyone else !)
I read on this chain that there was an " AF map" of Yarmouth county from 1864. I've been wondering whether or not there exists any such record that would show where my ancestors lived in Yarmouth county, Tusket and Surette's island more specifically. I would love anything I can access with such info on it. Ronpeavey@gmail.com

Copies of A. F. Church maps and land grant maps can be purchased very reasonably from the N S Dept of Natural Resources. I have done so a couple of times and found the service fast and efficient.
