John Peter Dahlgren born 1781 of Swedish descendent married Elizabeth Payson, born Westport, Brier Island 1796, daughter of Nathaniel and Elizabeth (Everitt) of Westport and Weymouth. John and Elizabeth lived at Westport until 1830 and moved to Weymouth. They had three children:
1. Jeremiah b. 1831 md. Maria Journeay. He died at New York in August 1903.
2. Phoebe, md. Ezekie M. Nichols and lived in Yarmouth, NS. She died there July 1, 1917.
3. William H.S, born 1837 md Oct 23, 1862 Margaret Adelia Jones, sister of A.G Jones, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. She died at New York Oct 11, 1909.

John Peter Dahlgren was a sea captain and operated vessels for the Payson family of Brier Island. He died at Weymouth Nov 3, 1858. Elizabeth (Payson) Dahlgren died at Weymouth in December 1858.
