I am searching for my 5th grt. grandfather's Parents or info of Where he came from prior to being in Nova Scotia.
He married 1st in Buxton, ME in Jan. 1774 to my 5th grt. grandmother Elizabeth DONALD.
There are no records of James that I have been able to find in Maine. I am hoping that besides his marriage info and children born to he and his 2nd wife Sarah BAKER (daug. of John Baker and Persis WHEELER) (which I have a list of), that there may be Land Records. Perhaps he was a Loyalist who was granted land in Nova Scotia.
I know very little about my James MOODY.
He seems to have been in Annapolis Co., Nova Scotia by at least 1784 but I have an idea he was there long before that...perhaps as early as c1760.
He may have come to North America from Northern Ireland or he may have come from Scotland and the orig. spelling of his last name might have been MUDIE or MOODIE.
He was born c1750 possibly as early as c1730. This is all I know.
OH, and he is NOT the Lt. James Moody who went to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia...the English spy of whom they wrote the book about. DNA tests have already Proven that we do Not belong to him.
Any help or info greatly appreciated.
Thank You very much.
