Maria Cliff is listed in "The Descendants of Edmund and Jane (Webb) Price" on page 163 as the daughter of John Nelson Cliff and his first wife Eliza Currie. She was born in Queensbury ca. 1845. Maria and Saunders Patterson were married on 27 Sept 1865.

John Nelson Cliff was the son of John Cliff and Phoebe Sophia Menzies. Maria was living with this family (her grandparents) in the 1861 Census in Queensbury, according to the researchers of this book. John and Phoebe were first cousins. John was the son of John Cliff and Margaret Price (daughter of Edmund and Jane Price). Phoebe Sophia was the daughter of Thomas Menzies and Phoebe Jessica Price (daugther of Edmund). Phoebe Sophia was first married to Capt. James Clark. She married a third time to a Mr. Holland.

John Cliff Sr. was a Loyalist who settled in Prince William Parish, York county and later moved to Queensbury.
